Creating Characters Saturday Workshop

29 May

Saturday gone Super+Super welcomed Zara Wood aka Woody and Miss Amy Phipps to host our much anticipated Creating Characters workshop, previously held at YSP and Fingal Arts Dublin. With a window cram packed with Woody’s hand illustrated characters and stacks of colourful threads, books and scraps of magazines to aid the imagination our excited group of attendees let loose on their sketch books to create some crafty magic of thier own!

The first half of the day was spent with Zara creating their very own character – picking up useful tips on sourcing inspiration, fully utilising sketchbooks and ‘getting into’ the creative process.

Then working with both Amy & Zara on translating characters through hand embroidery onto fabric, framing them in lovely wooden hoops to make a one off very personal artwork.

Thanks to Woody and Amy for a truely creative and inspiring workshop. Watch this space for dates of our autumn Characters event!

Quotes from previous attendees:

‘Thank you! You’ve made sketchbooks anti-panic & doodles a stitching heaven’

‘An excellent course – I learned so much and feel inspired to keep going.’

Thanks for a ‘super’ day. Carolyn and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve been stitching ever since! I’m completely hooked. Before the workshop it was all about the sewing machine. Not any more!

    Thanks
